Yitzhak Katznelson (* 1934 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli mathematician who deals with harmonic analysis.

Katznelson studied at the Hebrew University (master's degree in 1956) and received his doctorate in 1959 at the Sorbonne with Szolem Mandelbrojt . From 1966 he taught at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. From 1988 he was a professor at Stanford University , where he had previously been for longer stays.

He dealt with harmonic analysis (i.e. Fourier series and their generalizations), ergodic theory and dynamic systems.

In 2002 he received the Leroy P. Steele Prize for his textbook on harmonic analysis , which after the award laudation has the “right mixture of the concrete and the abstract”. He is a fellow of the American Mathematical Society .
