Ynglinger

The Ynglinger or "Inglinger" were the oldest royal family in Sweden . It resided in Sigtuna and Alt-Uppsala and exercised supremacy over the jugglers of the tribes. Under their rule, the Norwegian petty princes began to gather under a common crown. Christianity found its way into the region under its second historically documented king, Olof Skötkonung .

Kings of the Ynglingers

There were four historically documented kings in this dynasty:

The rulers in front of it are considered mythological or collectible figures. They are particularly known from the Heimskringla , the heroic saga of the early kings of Norway, and the Beowulf saga, in which they appear as Scylfings . The kings of the Yngling people also appear in the Gesta Danorum and the Ynglingatal .
