Yngve Brodd (born June 9, 1930 in Seglora församlingÄlvsborgs län ; † September 23, 2016 in Gothenburg ) was a Swedish national football player and coach .

career

Brodd moved in 1952 from the fourth division Fritsla IF to Örebro SK . On April 20, 1952, he made his debut in the 1: 2 away win at Djurgårdens IF in the Allsvenskan . In the 8th minute of the game, the striker scored his first first division goal. After two seasons in the Swedish first division, he moved to France for Toulouse FC in 1953 , where he signed a professional contract. In 1956 he joined the league rivals FC Sochaux , with whom he reached the final of the national cup in 1959 ; nevertheless he returned to Toulouse immediately afterwards. In 1963 he went back to Sweden as a player-coach and worked for IFK Göteborg until 1966 .

Brodd has been a twenty-time Swedish international . With the national selection, he took part in the 1952 Olympic Games . There the team reached the game for third place after a 6-0 defeat in the semifinals against the overwhelming Hungarian team . There the German Olympic team was beaten 2-0 and won the bronze medal. After moving to France, he was no longer called up to the national team because the Swedish Association rejected professional football. After the association gave way in the late 1950s, Brodd was able to celebrate a comeback in the selection in 1960. After missing qualification for the 1962 World Cup , he was finally no longer appointed.
