Yolanda Eminescu

Yolanda Eminescu (born May 10, 1921 in Mizil ; † March 9, 1998 ) was one of the first and most important lawyers of the Socialist Republic of Romania .

Life

Eminescu's father - a senior officer (Gheorghe Eminescu) - was the son of Matei Eminescu, a brother of the Romanian writer Mihai Eminescu . After attending grammar school in Brăila , Eminescu studied 1939-1943 at the law faculty in Bucharest . 1943–1945 she worked for a law firm in Ilfov, after which Yolanda Eminescu was appointed judge on February 17, 1945. In 1948 Yolanda Eminescu received the academic doctorate . She worked as a judge until 1949, after which Eminescu moved to the Faculty of Law in Bucharest. In 1951 Eminescu was dismissed from the faculty, in 1954 employed by the newly founded Institute for Law, where she worked until she retired in 1983.

The legal library of the University of Valahia in Târgovişte in Dâmbovița County , as well as a courtroom in Sector 5 in Bucharest, are named after her.
