Yorketown is a small town on the Yorke Peninsula ( English Yorke Peninsula ) in the Australian state of South Australia . In 2016, 642 residents lived in the city.

Yorketown is centrally located in the heel area of the foot-shaped peninsula of which it is the southern center. To the east and south it is about ten kilometers to the coast, to the northwest about 15 kilometers. The place is only about 80 kilometers west of Adelaide as the crow flies ; but on the road around the Gulf Saint Vincent  it is 227 kilometers.

There are around 200 salt lakes around Yorketown , some of them in the urban area. Until the 1950s, salt was extracted and shipped in the area, which made the place prosperous.
