Career

Yoshiaki Maruyama's football career began in high school. From 1990 to 1990 he played football for the Teikyō High School ( 帝 京 高校 , Teikyō kōkō ) at which he went to school. After graduating, he went to Waseda University . For this he also played football. In 1997 he moved to the J-League for the Yokohama Marinos . In two years he only made 17 appearances and switched to Montedio Yamagata on loan for a year . At Montedio he was a regular player and went back to Yokohama in 2002. There he could not prevail again. His personal breakthrough came when he switched to Albirex Niigata . He completed a total of 114 games for the club until 2005. He met Masahiro Fukasawa there , who like himself, would later play in the Thai Premier League . In 2006 he signed a contract with Vegalta Sendai and played there just 14 games in two years. Even the move to the lower class club AC Nagano Parceiro could not give his career another boost. At the age of 35 he went to Thailand to join Chonburi FC to take on a new challenge.
