Yoshirō Okazaki

Yoshirō Okazaki ( Japanese 岡 崎 義 朗 , Okazaki Yoshirō ; born April 27, 1971 ) is a Japanese jazz musician (trumpet, flugelhorn).

Yoshirō Okazaki worked in the Japanese jazz scene from the late 1990s a. a. with Seiji Tada , who also made his first recordings in 1997. As a member of the Tokyo Leaders Big Band , he performed with Bobby Watson in 1999 ; in the following years he played a. a. in the big bands of Ken'ichi Tsunoda , Masaru Uchibori and Makoto Ozone ( Back in the Club 2010), in the USA also with Iris Ornig ( New Ground , 2007) and Ruslan Khain ( Tie It In!, 2008). He recorded his debut album Hank's Mood around 2003 with Hidenori Midorikawa , Keiichi Yoshida , Tomokazu Sugimoto and Akira Igawa . In the 2010s, he led a quintet with trumpeter Jay Thomas , which also included Shuhei Mizuno (piano), Go Shimada (bass) and Daisuke Kurata (drums); In 2013 the live album Soul Summit was created! Live at Mr. Kenny's - Dedicated to Kenny Dorham (Cug). In the field of jazz, Tom Lord lists him in 14 recording sessions between 1997 and 2016, most recently with Naoko Tanaka ( Memories , 2014) and Fumio Karashima ( My Favorite Things , 2016).
