The Young Engineers' Satellite (YES, also Teamsat ) is a satellite that was built on an initiative of the Dutch space development service provider Delta-Utec SRC .

The project was proposed at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Beijing in October 1996. About a year later, on October 30, 1997, the Young Engineers' Satellite was brought into space together with other projects as a scientific payload for the qualification launch of the Ariane 5G from the Center Spatial Guyanais in French Guiana .

Over forty young engineers and students from ten countries built the satellite in about six months. During the construction phase in the Erasmus High Bay in the European Space Research and Technology Center in Noordwijk (Netherlands), the project was also supported by some experienced specialists from ESA .

There were some experiments on board the satellites, including a GPS receiver , a webcam on a self-constructed on-board computer and a tether experiment, which could not be carried out around other satellites due to an orbit that was changed shortly before take-off Geotransfer orbit not to endanger.
