Youssef Rossi ( Arabic يوسف روسي; Born June 28, 1973 in Casablanca , Morocco ) is a former Moroccan football player .

Club career

In 1994 Rossi signed a contract with the Moroccan professional club Raja Casablanca at the age of 21 . This dominated Moroccan football at the time, so that Rossi won the championship and the cup in 1996 and the championship again in 1997. In the same year the club won the African Champions League . After winning the title, Rossi saw his chance abroad and signed a contract with the French first division club Stade Rennes . There he formed the central defense with Eddy Capron . In 1999, however, he was ousted from the starting XI by Lamine Diatta and Julien Escudé . He did not appear once for the first team and only came on two missions for the reserve. He then decided to move to Nijmegen during the winter break of the 1999/2000 season . There, too, he came only to four missions, after which he went to Dunfermline Athletic in the summer of 2000 . At first he enjoyed the trust of his coach, Jimmy Calderwood , which he gambled away with poor performance. Therefore, he did not come to a single use in the 2002/03 season, but was not allowed to leave the club. In 2003 he went back to Raja Casablanca, with which he was again Moroccan champion in 2004. In 2005 Rossi finally moved to Qatar to Al-Khor SC and let his career end. After retiring in 2008, he worked for Raja Casablanca as technical director.

National team

For Morocco, Rossi took part in the 1998 World Cup. He ran in all three group games for his team.
