Julien Escudé (born August 17, 1979 in Chartres ) is a former French football player . He was most recently under contract with the Turkish sports club Beşiktaş Istanbul . He is the younger brother of tennis player Nicolas Escudé .

Career

Escudé started his career in France at AS Cannes . In 1998, at the age of 19, he joined the professional squad and made 21 games in his first season for the then second division team , scoring one goal. In the summer before the 1999/2000 season , he moved to Division 1 representative Stade Rennes on a free transfer . In four years he made 110 games for Rennes before moving to Ajax Amsterdam in 2003. In his first year in Amsterdam he became Dutch champion . After 64 games in the Eredivisie, he moved to Sevilla FC in January 2006 , with whom he won the UEFA Cup in 2006 (4-0 against FC Middlesbrough ) and 2007 (6-5 against Espanyol Barcelona ).

National team

In 2002 , Escudé and his country took part in the U-21 European Football Championship in Switzerland . It was his first tournament with a youth team from France. In 2006 he was part of the senior squad for the first time and played a few friendly matches and qualifying games for the 2008 European Championship (again in Switzerland and Austria ).
