The yawl Yoxy is a regatta sailing dinghy. It was designed by Ulrich Czerwonka, built by VEB Yachtwerft Berlin (today BBG Bootsbau Berlin ), offers space for about three people (useful load: 225 kg) and is easy to handle up to wind force 4.

description

The dinghy was planned and built in coordination with the Association of German Sailors of the GDR , whose test teams from all parts of the GDR tested the functional models under a wide variety of conditions. It has foamed reserve buoyancy spaces , the arrangement of which is intended to delay the overturning typical of sailing dinghies . Two bilge valves are built into the bottom of the boat to remove the water that remains in the boat if it capsizes. The hull is made of glass fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester resin (UP-GF) using the hand lay -up process. Joists , deck sbalken and reinforcements as well as the reserve buoyancy bodies were made of prefabricated foam parts and coated with GRP. The plywood floor is removable. The mast holder and lock allows an uncomplicated laying of the mast . All fittings are made of stainless steel, plastic or seawater-resistant light metal. Mast and boom are made of anodized aluminum profile , sword and rudder blade are made of UF-GF.
