Yslaire
Yslaire (born January 11, 1957 in Brussels ), real name Bernard Hislaire, is a Belgian comic artist .
Life
His first drawings appeared in the Robidule fanzine while studying at the Institut Saint-Luc . At the age of 18 he became a member of the Spirou magazine team . Soon afterwards his 16-page short story le Troisième Laron came out. Together with his supporters Charles Dupuis , Raoul Cauvin and Jean-Marie Brouyère , he produced several series such as Coursensac et Baladin . He became famous in 1978 with his first own series, Bidouille et Violette , which he continued until 1985. Various drawings for La Libre Belgique and Le Trombone Illustré also date from this period .
After meeting Balac (Yann) he drew the saga Sambre about the impossible love between the rich young man Bernard Sambre and the peasant girl Julie during the 1848 revolution in France . Stylistically, it differed greatly from his previous works, the coloring is severely limited, black and white contrasts with blood-red accents dominate. This series met with critical and commercial success. It was published in German by Carlsen- Verlag and has been continued by Finix Comics since 2020 .
From 1997 he dealt with the Internet and drew the album XXe Ciel (The XX Heaven), a profound cyber novel, which is characterized by a diverse mixture of styles. This was also published in German by Carlsen.
