Yui Asaka

Yui Asaka ( Japanese 浅 香 唯 , Asaka Yui ; born December 4, 1969 in Miyazaki , Miyazaki Prefecture ) is a Japanese singer and actress .

Life

Yui Asaka made her musical debut on June 21, 1985 with the single Natsu Shōjo ( Summer Girl ). Many more J-Pop hits followed, which quickly made her a Japanese idol . Numerous appearances on popular Japanese music shows such as The Best Ten followed.

She reached the peak of her popularity when she took on the title role in the third season of the television series Sukeban Deka . She was the successor to the idols Yuki Saitō and Yōko Minamino , who played the main role in the first and second seasons. Two Sukeban Deka cinema films followed in 1987 and 1988.

In 1988 she played the lead role in the movie Yawara! , a live adaptation of the manga of the same name by Naoki Urasawa .

In 2002 she married the longtime drummer in her band.
