Yui Hamamoto ( Japanese 浜 本 由 惟 Hamamoto Yui ; born July 28, 1998 in Osaka ) is an Austrian table tennis player of Japanese origin. With the Japanese team, she won the silver medal at the 2016 World Championships in Kuala Lumpur .

Career

Hamamoto attended a sports boarding school in Japan and was very successful for her country from an early age. She reached the final of the Japanese Youth Championships in 2012 and won silver there. She even won gold at the Junior Korea and Cadet Open. In 2015 she won the U21 Swedish Open and with these successes climbed over 30 places in the world rankings . In the same year Hamamoto was second at the World Tour Grand Finals, where she also competed in the U21 competition.

From 2015 to 2017 she played in the German Bundesliga with ttc berlin eastside .

Her last tournament for Japan was the Thailand Open in May 2018, and since the China Open in May / June 2019 she has competed internationally for Austria.
