Yui Susaki ( Japanese 須 崎 優 衣 , Susaki Yui ; born June 30, 1999 ) is a Japanese wrestler . In 2017 she became the women's world champion in the weight class up to 48 kg and in 2018 in the weight class up to 50 kg

Career

Yui Susaki started wrestling in 2006 as a teenager. Her talent was recognized early on and she has been specifically promoted since 2013. Her trainer has been Shoko Yoshimura since then. She is still a high school student but will soon be attending university and is already training at the JOC Akademy Tokyo . She is 1.53 meters tall and wrestles in the weight class up to 48 kg body weight. To achieve this weight, she currently has to train about 5 kg before every competition.

In 2014, Yui Susaki became Junior World Champion in the Cadets age group for the first time in Snina (Slovakia) in the weight class up to 43 kg. She won this title in 2015 and 2016 in the higher weight classes up to 46 kg and 49 kg body weight, respectively.

In December 2016, in the absence of that year's Olympic champion Eri Tosaka , who was injured, she became Japanese women's champion. Since Eri Tosaka was out due to injury for the whole of 2017, Yui Susaki was specifically prepared for the highlights of the wrestling year 2017. She then passed these challenges brilliantly, because in May 2017 in New Delhi with a victory in the final over Kim Son-hyang from North Korea she became the Asian champion in the weight class up to 48 kg and in August 2017 in Paris she was also world champion in the same weight class. On the way to this success she defeated Thalia Jihann Mallqui Peche from Peru, Julie Martine Sabatie from France, Victoria Lacey Anthony from the United States, again Kim Sonhyang and in the final battle Emilia Alina Vuc from Romania.

In the Japanese championship held in December 2017, Yui Susaki lost to Yuki Irie , who she sent off the mat after 5:48 minutes with 10: 0 points in the semifinals. She then took 3rd place behind Yuki Irie and Miho Igarashi. At the Junior World Championship, which was held in Trnava in September 2018, she defeated the German Ellen Riesterer in the final of the weight class up to 50 kg and took the title. In October 2018 she also became world champion in the same weight class in Budapest. On the way to this success she defeated Emilia Alina Vuc, Romania, Ritu Ritu, India, Oksana Liwach, Ukraine and Maria Stadnik , Azerbaijan.

At the Meiji Cup in Tokyo in June 2019, the decisive tournament for the nomination for the World Cup, Yui Susaki won the final against the 2016 Olympic champion Eri Tosaka, who knocked her off the mat after 1.36 minutes with 10-0 points. On July 6, 2019, Yui Susaki lost in a specially scheduled World Cup elimination match against Yuki Irie, who was injured at the Meiji Cup 2019, with a clear 1: 6 points.

She then competed at the Junior World Championships (Juniors) in Tallinn in August 2019, where she won her seventh world title in the weight class up to 50 kg. She defeated all five of her opponents prematurely, either by a shoulder victory or by technical shoulder victories (10 technical points lead). She did not allow a single technical point of her opponents.
