Mariya Vasilyevna Stadnik ( Ukrainian Марія Василівна Стадник / Marija Wassyliwna Stadnyk ; born June 3, 1988 in Lemberg , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a freestyle wrestler, who initially competes for her home country Ukraine and since 2007 for Azerbaijan .

Stadnik started wrestling in 2000. In 2005 she became Junior European Champion for Ukraine in the weight class up to 48 kg in Vilnius . In 2007 she realized that she was only the second in her home country after Iryna Merleni . Then she accepted the offer from Azerbaijan to start for this country.

In 2008 she became Junior European Champion for Azerbaijan in Košice ( Slovakia ) and also won the senior title in April 2008 at the European Championships in Tampere ( Finland ). In August 2008, she took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing for the first time and won the bronze medal there.

In August 2015 she won the gold medal at the 2015 European Games .

Maria Stadnik is married to the Ukrainian wrestler Andrei Stadnik .
