The China Yurun Food Group , or Yurun Food for short , is one of the largest meat processing companies in the People's Republic of China (as of 2015 number two behind the WH Group ).

history

The group of companies was founded in 1993 by Zhu Yicai. Coming from a poor background (* 1967 in the province of Anhui), with the expansion of the company, also in business fields outside of the meat industry, he became a multi-billionaire and one of the richest Chinese. Until 2012 he was Chairman and then Honorary Chairman of the company. As of 2015, he is the company's largest single shareholder and also the largest shareholder in the Chinese retail chain Nanjing Central Emporium. In the spring of 2015, the authorities placed him under house arrest, apparently because of corruption investigations in real estate transactions.

Structure, key figures

China Yurun Food Group, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange , is headquartered in Nanjing, but is incorporated in Bermuda for tax purposes . It is vertically integrated , the value chain extends from slaughter to further processing and distribution. Manufacturing facilities are located in all parts of the country. Yurun Food divides its products into the following categories: On the one hand chilled and frozen pork (around 200 variants), on the other hand meat products processed at low or high temperatures (LTMP or HTMP, around 1000 types). The product is sold under several brand families, the most important of which are Wangrun (HTMP meat products), Yurun (LTMP meat products, chilled and frozen meat) and, especially in northern China, Dazhong Roulian, a recognized traditional brand ; a fourth core brand, Furun, has now been incorporated into the Yurun brand family.
