Yūta Tabuse ( Japanese 田 臥 勇 太 , Tabuse Yūta ; born October 5, 1980 in Yokohama , Japan ) is a Japanese basketball player on the position of point guard .

career

Yūta Tabuse was already a star in Japan when he was in high school and led his school team to a total of three national championships. His career began in Tokyo with Toyota Alvarks , for which he played until 2003. After this time, he should be the first Japanese to be hired in the North American professional league NBA .

Tabuse played for the Dallas Mavericks Summer League team and then traveled to training camp with the Denver Nuggets . Since he could not convince those responsible for the team, he was removed from the squad again. His next stop was the ABA team Long Beach Jam , with whom he won the ABA championship that year and on a statistic of 11.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and a team best of 6.3 assists per game in 18 games came. After this successful season Tabuse tried again in the NBA, this time with the Phoenix Suns. In his first game of the season he came to seven points against the Atlanta Hawks on November 3, 2004, but he was removed from the squad on December 16, 2004 and played the rest of the season again at Long Beach.

In 2005 he started his third attempt, in which he finally wanted to assert himself, and signed with the Los Angeles Clippers , which, however, removed him from the roster after the training camp. In the 2006 Summer League, he played again for the Dallas Mavericks.

Special skills

Although Yūta Tabuse at 1.75 m and 75 kg is very small and slim for a professional basketball player, he has the ability to pull to the basket and score points thanks to his speed and good ball handling. His coach at the Suns Mike D'Antoni was convinced of his abilities as a playmaker, but the pressure to perform in a team like Phoenix was still too great for taboos.
