Yūka Nanri ( Japanese 南 里 侑 香 , Nanri Yūka ; born March 13, 1984 in Nagasaki Prefecture , Japan ), usually referred to only as YUUKA , is a seiyū , musical performer and well-known J-pop singer.

Career

Yuka Nanri had her first appearance in 1995, as a child star in the show Utatte Odorompa ( うたってオドロンパ) radio station NHK . Two years later she joined the singing drama group Minami-Aoyama Shōjo Kageki-dan ( 南 青山 少女 歌劇 団 , dt. "South Aoyama girls opera company "), also known under the name Nanshō . There she began to show musicals and other artistic performances. In 2001 she resigned from this group and in the same year began to work as Seiyū for the Japanese version of The Powerpuff Girls as Bubbles . Other roles followed as seiyū in works such as My-HiME or Gunslinger Girl .

In 2003 she sang the credits for the OVA for the Ren'ai adventure Memories Off 2nd with her Mitseiyū Saeko Chiba , which resulted in the temporary duo tiaraway , who released their first single Your Shade / Usual place at the end of 2003 . After releasing three singles and an album, the group was disbanded on March 6, 2005, after their first and last live performance.

She then founded the duo FictionJunction YUUKA with Yuki Kajiura , a well-known composer for anime music . This duo became widely known in the scene , among other things through the music pieces for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and the successor Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny . Yūka sang most of the non-instrumental pieces of music for the anime Madlax , for which Yuki Kajiura composed the soundtrack.

In 2006 she was selected for the lead role in the musical ANGEL GATE - Haru no Yokan ( ANGEL GATE ~ 春 の 予 感 ~ ) and thus appeared a total of 4 times, from April 13th to 16th. For this reason, she could not take part as seiyū in the second season of School Rumble . In March of the same year she received her university degree in singing.

She gave her first solo concerts with the title Premium Live 2007 as FictionJunction YUUKA on February 8th and 15th, 2007.
