Reviews

Detective John Chatterton

  • Jury of the German Youth Literature Prize : "This picture book is a real treasure trove of old and new worlds of images. Fairy-tale characters encounter symbols of graffiti art: Hansel meets Haring. Set up like a comic, in the style of Ligne Clair , the picture story combines well-known fairy-tale motifs with new viewing habits from film and television and links elements of the detective story with those of film noir . It thrives on the fun of recognition, which not only appeals to young readers. The idiosyncratic shapes, sparse and flat color accents and amazing perspectives offer an enjoyable reading experience In the spirit of postmodern irony, styles play with the set pieces of today's media experience. This picture book deliberately goes beyond the limitations of the genre and age. "

A cat in the night

  • FAZ : "He has given us devilishly cool versions of Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White, but none of his works were like this one: wild as a young cat and romantic like all the first nights on the roofs of an unknown city. Anyone who was a young reader , knows what I'm talking about. "
