Yvette Horner (born September 22, 1922 in Tarbes , † June 11, 2018 in Courbevoie ) was a French accordionist.

Life

Horner attended the Conservatory of her hometown and later the Conservatory of Toulouse, where she won first prize in the piano subject at the age of eleven. In Paris she continued her training with Robert Bréard .

On the 200th anniversary of the storm on the Bastille, Horner appeared in 1989 with the Orchester National de Jazz under the direction of Quincy Jones . In 1997 she gave a concert at the Palais des congrès de Paris with Marcel Azzola and the Orchester Philharmonique Européen under the direction of Hugues Reiner . From 1998 to 2000 she worked on Maurice Béjart's ballet production Casse-noisette , which was performed in Turin and Lausanne (1998), Paris and Châtelet (1999) and Lyon (2000).

At the Sons d'hiver 2001 she performed with the free jazz group Campagnie des Musiques à Ouïr and the rock musician Jac Berrocal . In 2002 she took part in a homage to the pianist Alexis Weissenberg in the Salle Gaveau with a classical repertoire . In the same year she was honored as an officer of the Legion of Honor and commander of the Ordre national du Mérite .

Her autobiography Le biscuit dans la poche was published in 2005, and the following year Canadian filmmaker Damian Pettigrew made a documentary about her.
