The Zähringer monument

The Zähringer monument is a monument to Berchtold V. von Zähringen in the Nydegghöfli near the Nydeggkirche in Bern .

It was cast in the royal ore foundry in Munich and first unveiled on May 8, 1847 on the cathedral platform. Karl Emanuel Tscharner created the four bronze panels that were attached to the pedestal designed by Jakob Friedrich Studer . At the end of 1961, the memorial was removed from the platform and erected in 1968 with a new base in Nydegghöfli. The four panels were attached to the retaining wall in Nydeggasse.

The Zähringer fountain from 1535 and the Zähringer monument in the Bern Minster from 1601 also commemorate Berchtold V.
