Złota 44 is a high-rise residential building designed by Daniel Libeskind in the center of the Polish capital, Warsaw . It has 52 floors and a total height of 192 meters. It is the tallest residential building in the European Union. The floor area is 79,000 square meters.

The structure was erected between 2007 and 2016. It is on the corner of Złota Street and Emilii Plater Street, directly opposite the Palace of Culture and Science and next to a Holiday Inn hotel and the modern shopping and entertainment center “ Złote Tarasy ”. The skyscraper is named after its postal address Złota 44 .

The building in the form of a raised cube with sail-shaped curved glass facades will provide space for 251 apartment apartments. The load-bearing structure was made of reinforced concrete; the clear height of the living spaces will be 2.95 m. A sun terrace, a stainless steel swimming pool, a sauna and a spa will be available to residents .

The construction work began with the demolition of the “City Center” department store built around 20 years earlier. The first client was the Orco Property Group . The floor slab of the department store was not removed, but used as the foundation of the high-rise. In March 2009 all construction work was stopped because the client ran into financial difficulties. At this point the construction had progressed to the 17th floor. The construction cranes were dismantled in June 2009. A resumption of construction work was uncertain and the building permit had meanwhile lost its validity.

In April 2010 Daniel Libeskind wrote to the President of the capital Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz , asking for help. On October 7, 2010, the President of the Masovian Voivodeship declared the building permit valid and construction work resumed. The builder Orco planned to continue the work within eight to twelve months. In December 2010, 88 of the 251 residential units had been sold. The facade should be completed by the 2012 European Football Championship . The topping-out ceremony was on February 1, 2012. In April 2013, the red crane on the facade was removed and the exterior work completed. The building should now be completed by 2014. The general contractor was now a consortium made up of the Italian Inso and the Consorzio Cooperative Costruzioni . In August 2014, the construction project was taken over by BBI Development.

The football player Robert Lewandowski bought an apartment in Złota 44 in 2016.
