The LSE BDeh 4/4 are railcars for adhesion and gear operation . They were built from 1964 to 1980 as BDeh 4/4 1–8 for the Luzern-Stans-Engelberg-Bahn (LSE). Today the company is called Zentralbahn and the railcars are run as BDeh 140. Since they had to travel both at 250 ‰ with a gear wheel and at 75 km / h on adhesion routes, they are equipped with two different gear ratios, which is rare with electric traction vehicles. These railcars had to handle all traffic to Engelberg until the opening of the new Grafenort – Engelberg tunnel with a reduced gradient (105 ‰) in December 2010. They were then used for additional trains and alternatively for multiple units in S-Bahn traffic. The BDeh 140 005–007 received the new numbers and the necessary adjustments for journeys in the tunnel, but the operations ended in 2013 after the delivery of the new multiple units.

The railcar no. 5 is preserved as a historic vehicle and is today, together with the matching control car ABt 923, in the inventory of e.g. historic. Since December 19, 2015, the vehicles in LSE paintwork can be used for extra trips .
