The ABeh 150 is an articulated railcar of the Zentralbahn for adhesion and cogwheel routes . It was developed by Stadler Rail designed and built as eagle ( A lpiner d ynamic l judges e leganter R eisezug), respectively.

history

The trains were ordered in 2009. They are intended for interregional traffic between Lucerne and Interlaken. They are the longest meter gauge vehicles ever built by Stadler. They have been in use since 2012 and will gradually replace the previous locomotive-operated trains by 2013.

Constructive features

Gear drive with eccentric height adjustment with wheelset shaft (dark red), hollow shaft (red), bearing (blue) and drive / brake gear (black)

The trains consist of two three-part half-trains, which can also run alone, and a non-powered bistro car lined up in the middle. They can be coupled with the three-part ZB ABeh 160/161 and can be controlled multiple times. Four out of seven entrances per side are in the low-floor area. The cars are air-conditioned. They have large panoramic windows, and there are bike and ski racks. Adhesion and gear drive are mechanically completely separated from each other, so that no slip can occur. The bogies at the ends of a half train are the adhesion drive bogies. They run along with the rack sections and generate about a third of the drive power there. The gear drive bogies under the middle section have two running axles. The inner one carries the gear drive.

A newly developed gear drive with eccentric height adjustment is used in the ABeh 150 , the construction of which corresponds to a conventional gear drive with pawl bearing , as is known from pure gear trains. The drive or brake gears are not supported directly on the wheelset shaft , but on an additionally inserted hollow shaft that is connected to the wheelset shaft via eccentric disks. By turning the eccentric disks, the tooth engagement can be easily adapted to the wheel wear in seven steps of 5 mm each, which allows a wheel wear of 35 instead of 12 mm.

The first class cars are at both ends of the train. In the middle of the train there is a dining car (without drive), which, if not served, also serves as an additional second-class seating car.

The car bodies and the adhesion drive of the ABeh 150 and ABeh 160 served as a model for the western Swiss meter gauge trains from Stadler. The box structure and numerous other components were also adopted by Adler and Fink in the construction of the ABDeh 8/8 for the Berner Oberland-Bahnen .

Replica series

As a replacement for the shuttle trains on the line to Engelberg, Zentralbahn ordered two more vehicles in December 2019. They should be delivered from the end of 2022 and will be given the designation ABeh 151 011-012. Compared to the ABeh 150, they will not have a bistro trolley, but a flexibly usable multifunction trolley in the middle of the composition.
