Zac Brown Band
The Zac Brown Band is an American neo-traditionalism-country - band , in Atlanta was founded, Georgia.
Band history
The band head Zac Brown grew up in a large musical family as the second youngest of twelve children and received classical guitar lessons for the first time at the age of seven. During high school he performed as a musician and began to play individual songs as well as cover songs. He then began college studies in classical singing, but changed studies several times and finally gave up the study altogether. During this time he played in the band Far from Einstyne and when they broke up he continued as a musician in a duo with the drummer. In 2002 he put together the first full Zac Brown Band, which made almost 200 appearances in the first year. Brown founded his own label Home Grown and released the band's debut album of the same name in 2003. He sold over 30,000 copies of it and of the live album Live from the Rock Bus Tour (2005) in self-distribution . In the meantime he founded a music club with his father, where he performed solo and with a band. After a short time, however, it was sold again and the band toured by bus from performance to performance in clubs and festivals, including the 2006 Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester (Tennessee). At that time the band consisted of Zac Brown (singer, guitar), Jimmy De Martini (violin, vocals), John Driskell Hopkins (bass, background), Coy Bowels (guitar, organ) and Chris Fryar (drums). In 2009 Clay Cook (guitar, organ, vocals) was added.
In 2006 the Zac Brown Band also recorded their third album, The Foundation . It first appeared again on its own label , which has since been renamed Southern Ground , and was then to be taken over by the new label of the concert promoter Live Nation . However, the label was discontinued and so they came to Atlantic Records , which released the album in 2008 USA-wide. It became a huge hit and sold over three million times. It stayed in the US album charts for almost four years and reached number 9 as the best ranking. The debut single Chicken Fried sold two million copies and was the band's first number one hit in the country charts . With Highway 20 Ride , Free and the million seller Toes , three more songs on the album then reached number one. Following this success, the Zac Brown Band was named Newcomer of the Year at the Grammy Awards and the CMA Awards in 2010 . They received two Grammy nominations for the album and the single Chicken Fried .
In the same year, the second label album You Get What You Give was released , which was able to build on the success of its predecessor. In the official album charts and in the country charts it rose to number one and sold over 1.8 million copies. Another four songs made it to number one on the country charts, including Knee Deep , a recording made with country legend Jimmy Buffett . This single brought them their best position in the official single charts with position 18 and sold over two million times. For the collaboration with Alan Jackson on the song As She's Walking Away they received their second Grammy and an ACM Award , the album and the song Free brought two more Grammy nominations.
The third Atlantic album, entitled Uncaged , was released in 2012. Although it came back to number one and was a million seller. It also earned the first Grammy Award for Best Country Album . Nevertheless, it fell short of the great success of the two previous albums. The single No Hurry reached number two in the country charts as the best placement. The following year an EP was released with Dave Grohl as drummer and producer under the title The Grohl Sessions Vol. 1 . The planned sequel did not appear in 2014, but the band released their first greatest hits album.
