Zafer Özgültekin (born March 10, 1975 in Sivas , Turkey ) is a former Turkish goalkeeper . Zafer Ozgültekin experienced his greatest success as the third goalkeeper of the Turkish national soccer team with third place at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea .

Career

His professional career began with İskenderun Demir Çelikspor . In 1997 he moved to the then first division club Karabükspor . Here he sat on the bench for the first season and was the first goalkeeper at the end of the second season. Due to good performances and because of the relegation of Karabükrspor to the TFF 1st Lig in the summer of 1999, Özgültekin moved to the traditional club MKE Ankaragücü . Ankaragücü loaned Zafer Ozgültekin to Kayseri Erciyesspor during the winter break in 2006 . He then moved to the second division Eskişehirspor , but due to problems with the board, he went back to Ankaragücü after six months.

National team

Özgültekin played a total of five times for the Turkish national team in 2002 and 2003 . He participated with this in the soccer world championship 2002 and finished third. During the tournament Özgültekin was behind the regular goalkeeper Rüştü Reçber and his replacement Ömer Çatkıç third goalkeeper and was not used.
