Zakariya Essabar

Zakariya Essabar ( Arabic زكريا الصبار, DMG Zakariyā aṣ-Ṣabbār ; * April 3, 1977 in Essaouira , Morocco ) is a suspected Islamist terrorist who is said to have belonged to the Hamburg terror cell .

The German Federal Public Prosecutor at the Federal Court of Justice issued an arrest warrant against him on October 18, 2001 on the grounds of urgent suspicion of having joined forces with others to form a terrorist organization and to have helped to plan and prepare for the September 11 attacks . According to the Federal Prosecutor General, he was registered for an apartment at Hamburg's Marienstrasse 54 at the same time as the assassin Mohammed Atta and had planned to travel to the USA on February 15, 2001, but did not receive a visa . At the end of August 2001, he is said to have traveled from Germany to Pakistan to verbally inform the leaders of al-Qaeda about the date chosen for the attack. After the fall of the Taliban he is a terrorist training camp in the province of Khost have been joined and killed there.
