Zakynthos (son of Dardanos)
Zakynthos ( Greek Ζάκυνθος ) is in Greek mythology as the son of Dardanos, a grandson of Zeus and founder of the first settlement on the island of Zakynthos named after him in the Ionian Sea .
Zakynthos came from the Arcadian city of Psophis and therefore, according to Pausanias , the acropolis of the island of Psophis was also called. According to Dionysius of Halicarnassus , Zakynthos was the son of Dardanos with Bateia , the daughter of the Trojan king Teukros . In this version he is the brother of Erichthonios and came from Troas to be the first to colonize the island, which later welcomed Aeneas , a descendant of Erichthonios, on his flight from Troy .
