The Wolfsgraben is an alluvial ditch connecting the Altmühl river in the municipality of Theilenhofen in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . It drains the shallow, left-hand floodplain of the river near the bank.

It begins at an altitude of 412  m above sea level. NHN south-east of Windsfeld and south-west of Wachstein and stretches for about 1.8 kilometers in a south-westerly direction parallel to the Altmühl through the wide open landscape of the wide valley floodplain . It absorbs the water from the Wachsteiner Bach and the Weidachgraben , both of which are original Altmühl tributaries. A first connection with the Altmühl is not far from the mouth of the Weidachgraben after a run of about one kilometer ( Lage ). The second and last connection is located northwest of Gundelsheim an der Altmühl at an altitude of 411  m above sea level. NN .

Like the Altmühl that runs parallel, the water overcomes a difference in altitude of only one meter, which is why the water drains off very slowly. After heavy rainfall, the landscape is inundated by the water masses of the Altmühl.
