The delicate-grain ornamental alga ( Cosmarium granatum ) is a species of algae from the group of ornamental algae (Desmidiales).

features

The cells are small, 26 to 47 micrometers long, 19 to 30 micrometers wide, and 10 to 17 micrometers thick. They are deeply constricted. Their sides are straight or convex, rarely also concave. The membrane has very fine punctures. The chloroplasts have 4 wings and each contain a pyrenoid .

Occurrence

Cosmarium granatum is one of the most widespread species of ornamental algae. It can be found in almost all types of water and is also found in plankton.
