Zavratnica

The Zavratnica [ zavratɲit͡sa ] is a bay on the northern Adriatic Sea in Croatia . It is located about 80 kilometers south of the city of Rijeka in the Kvarner Bay opposite the island of Rab . The bay is protected as a geomorphological natural phenomenon.
The Zavratnica is a few minutes' walk from the village of Jablanac and the ferry pier. It is about 1 km long and between 50 and 150 m wide. Hiking trails lead from the bay into the Velebit massif to the Premuzic long- distance hiking trail .
The wreck of a sieve ferry of the Wehrmacht sunk by British fighter bombers during the Second World War can be seen on the sea floor a few meters below the surface .
