Mining history

On September 18, 1816, a length field was awarded in the Wodantal . As of December the same year began, a tunnel to ascend and a shaft to sink . In the following year the mine was no longer mentioned in the documents. In July of the year 1837 a rose was first raised, in October of the same year the tunnel was further excavated and from November the mine was out of order. In 1838 the Cornelius Erbstollen was driven. In 1864 the mine was put back into operation. From 1867, a siding from Wodan to Nierendorf station was used to transport the coal. In the second half of 1872 the mine was shut down again.

In 1902 there was a consolidation of four length fields. In February of the same year operations were resumed and work began on digging a ton-long shaft. The construction site had a striking extent of one kilometer. In 1903 the shaft reached a shallow depth of 130 meters. Subsequently, the shaft mining began. The mine was now accessible via a shaft, three days of excavation and a tunnel. In 1905, the work almost came to a standstill, only exploration work was carried out. In 1906, the Friedliche Nachbar colliery was acquired by the Johannessegen colliery , but was initially still in operation. The operation was then postponed . During this time, the tonnage shaft was sunk further. At a depth of 200 meters was the haulage level set. In 1907, the mine with the mine Johannes blessing on the haulage level was durchschlägig completely taken over by the mine Johannes blessing. In the same year, the mine at the peaceful neighbor colliery was stopped. In 1946, mining in the mine field of the Friedliche Nachbar colliery was resumed for a few years by the small mine Rabe I / II.

Promotion and workforce

The first production figures come from the year 1867, in that year 4486 tons of hard coal were produced. In 1869 3483 tons of hard coal were mined. In 1872 the production sank slightly to 3,314 tons of hard coal. The first workforce figures come from 1902, in that year six miners were employed at the colliery who produced 35 tons of hard coal. The maximum production was achieved in 1904, with 43 miners, 4963 tons of hard coal were extracted. In the following year there was a dramatic drop in production to five tons of hard coal, the workforce was five miners. The last known workforce and production figures of the mine are from 1902, with twelve miners 773 tons of hard coal were extracted.

Raven and Peaceful Neighbor

On November 1st, 1946, the coal mine field of the Friedliche Nachbar colliery was worked on again by the Rabe GmbH coal mining company. The small mine Rabe I / II was put into operation. On March 25, 1949, the Rabe I / II colliery was renamed the Peaceful Neighbor colliery. The colliery was also known as Zeche Friedchen and consisted of the Rabe I / II pit fields and a GBAG Pachfeld . The Rabe I field was located in a quarry on the site of the former Johannessegen colliery. The Rabe II field was in a wood in the Wodan Valley. The only known production and workforce figures for the mine are from 1950, with 22 miners 3181 tons of hard coal were extracted. On July 1, 1951, the peaceful neighbor colliery was renamed the Edelsteinberg I colliery.

Gemstone Mountain I

The Edelsteinberg I colliery was a small mine in Hattingen-Bredenscheid in the Wodan Valley. The owner of the small mine was initially Ewald Asbach, later ownership passed to the Edelsteinberg I trade union. The company was subsequently renamed Ewald Asbach GmbH. The colliery was created on July 1st, 1951, when the coal mine Peaceful Neighbor was renamed. There was a barrel-length shaft that reached into the dirt bank. In 1952, 104 miners extracted 12,059 tons of hard coal. In December 1954 the mine was temporarily shut down. In 1955 the maximum production was achieved with 116 miners, it was 37,625 tons. In 1960, 113 miners extracted 36,703 tons of hard coal. On March 12, 1962, the Edelsteinberg I colliery was closed.
