The Zeche Geduld was a hard coal mine in Hattingen - Oberbredenscheid / Sprockhövel. The colliery was in operation with several interruptions for about 70 years.
Mining history
On March 5, 1826 on May 5 of 1836 which took place ceremony of the square field . The colliery was put into operation in 1837, and a tunnel was excavated from the Paasbach valley to the east. In 1838 the Rudolph shaft was sunk , the shaft was located near the streets Am Engel and Alte Poststraße . In 1840 Schacht Emilie was in production. From the end of October 1843, the colliery was set within deadlines . In 1891 the mine was put back into operation. A new tunnel was set up near the Alte Poststrasse and driven towards the southwest.
In 1892, there was a barrel-length shaft with a shallow depth of 48 meters. The transport was carried out over days with a horse-drawn tug from Wodan to Bredenscheid station. The ton-long shaft was also left open in 1893. In 1894 the mine was shut down patience and 1900 which was Berechtsame slammed the Westphalian Coal plants.
Promotion and workforce
The first known production figures of the mine come from the year 1838, 363⅛ Prussian tons of hard coal were produced . In 1840, 295 Prussian tons of hard coal were mined. In 1842 the production rose to 7093 Prussian tons of hard coal. The first known workforce at the mine dates back to 1891, in that year five miners were employed at the mine who produced 952 tons. In 1892, five miners extracted 1743 tons of hard coal. The last known production and workforce figures for the mine come from 1894, in that year, six miners extracted 1,400 tons of hard coal.
Post-war operation
A small mine was operated on the mine field of the Zeche Geduld from 1957 to 1964. The founder of this small mine was initially Hermann Kamperhoff. The colliery had the same name and the north wing of the main seam was to be dismantled. From July 1958 the company was taken over by Sundern GmbH. In order to avoid confusing the name with the Sundern colliery, the mining authority agreed to use the name Zeche Geduld as an exception. As early as 1958, Erlbruch GmbH took over the business under the name Zeche Erlbruch GmbH. In 1960, 39 miners extracted 3,659 tons of hard coal. The colliery's maximum production was achieved in 1961, when 34 miners extracted 4,758 tons of hard coal. On September 18, 1963, there was a firedamp deflagration . On April 30, 1964, the small mine Geduld was closed.
Erlbruch colliery
Erlbruch GmbH started the successor operation of the Zeche Geduld with the operation of the mine. At the same time, it operated the Erlbruch shaft in Hattingen Oberstüter from 1958 to 1962 . The Erlbruch colliery was put into operation in 1958 and with 17 miners 2201 tons of hard coal were mined that year. In 1959, operations were deferred and operations only resumed in 1961. In November 1962 the production was stopped, up to this time with 20 miners 2567 tons of hard coal had been extracted. On December 31, 1962, the Erlbruch colliery was shut down.
