The Helene Tiefbau colliery was a mine in Heven . The colliery was also known under the name Zeche Helena Tiefbau and emerged from the consolidation of several mines.

Mining history

In 1869 the mines Helena , Heinrich and Vereinigte Rosenthal consolidated into the Helene Tiefbau colliery. The authorized ones comprised four square fields , namely the square fields Rosenthal and Helena I to III as well as the length field Heinrich. There was also the Helene underground construction shaft. The second level was set in the shaft at a depth of 147 meters (−23 meters above sea level ). Due to strong water inflows, dam doors had to be installed on the second level. In 1871, further incorrect conclusions led to increased water inflows. In 1872 the well Helene deepened geteuft and recognized the 3rd floor at a depth of 225 meters (-101 meters above sea level). Due to a break in the day , there was again increased water inflows. This caused the mine building to almost drown . In 1873 only limited operations were possible, the mine workings had to be swamped , and full production operations were only possible again in the following year. In 1882, the fourth level was set at a depth of 316 meters (−191 meters above sea level). In 1883 it was consolidated into the United Helene-Nachtigall colliery.

Promotion and workforce

The first known production and workforce figures come from the year 1869, at that time 236 miners were employed at the mine, who produced 29,637 tons of hard coal . In the following year the production rose to almost 52,000 tons, this production was provided by 218 miners. Due to the limited operation, only 11,111 tons of hard coal could be extracted in 1873 with 201 miners. In 1875, 229 miners extracted 51,366 tons of hard coal. The last known production and workforce figures for the mine are from 1880, in that year 56,149 tons of hard coal were extracted with 247 miners.
