The Mathias Erbstollen 1,3 & Maria colliery is a former hard coal mine in the Linden district of Bochum . The mine was a small mine , the owner of this small mine was the Xanten union . The mine was located on the former pit of the Zeche Maria and St. Mathias Erbstollen.

Mining history

In June 1934 the tunnel operations of the former St. Mathias Erbstollen I / III and the Maria colliery in Sundern were put back into operation under the name of the Xanten colliery . This small mine was owned by the Xanten union. In 1939 the St. Mathias II construction site in Sundern was taken over. In 1945 the mine was renamed Zeche Zeche Mathias Erbstollen 1,3 & Maria. The Berechtsame included at this time an area of 2.5 km 2 . There was a ton-long shaft . The bottom of the weather was at a depth of 43 meters (+ 104 m above sea ​​level ), the conveying bottom was at a depth of 82 meters (+ 70 m above sea level). In 1951, shaft 3 reached a depth of 80 meters. In the following year, the construction site had an area of ​​900 meters stroking and 140 meters cross-cutting. On October 7, 1954, the Mathias Erbstollen 1,3 & Maria colliery was shut down.

Promotion and workforce

The first production and workforce figures come from 1945, when 63 miners were employed at the mine who produced 7,326 tons of hard coal . In 1950, 57 miners produced 13,011 tons of hard coal. In 1952 74 miners produced 14,056 tons of hard coal. The maximum production of the mine was achieved in 1953. With 70 miners 15,670 tons of hard coal were extracted. These are also the last known production and workforce figures for the mine.
