The Neuglück colliery in Essen-Überruhr -Hinsel is a former hard coal mine, the colliery was in operation for more than 60 years.

Mining history

The mine was already in operation in 1787. The mined coal was sold the Bergisch countryside. In 1804 the mine was closed in time limits . In 1810, the was trades of mine Neuglück by the mining authority , the transition to civil engineering approved. The unification of the three collieries, violence , cuckoo and new luck, for joint civil engineering was decisive for this approval . In 1813 a tunnel named Heinrich was excavated . In July of the same year , the Neuglück colliery consolidated below the bottom of the tunnel with the violence colliery to form the united violence colliery . Above the bottom of the tunnel, the Neuglück colliery remained independent and operated the Heinrich tunnel. In 1815, the violence tunnel was put into operation. After that the mine was still in operation. In 1837 the mine was operating in a disputed field. In 1853 the mine was still in production, after which the mine was no longer mentioned in the documents. In 1859 the Neuglück colliery was consolidated into the Neuglück & Violence colliery.

Promotion and workforce

The first production figures of the mine date back to 1802, this year 86 per day were ringed coal promoted. In 1827 59,110 bushels of hard coal were mined. The first workforce at the mine dates back to 1813, when nine miners were employed at the colliery. The production this year amounted to 39,964 bushels of hard coal. In 1834, 15 miners were employed at the colliery. In 1840 57,025 bushels of hard coal were mined. The last known production figures of the mine come from the year 1846, in that year 61,545 bushels of hard coal were produced.
