The Zeche Sonnenschein in Bochum was a hard coal mine in what is now the Dahlhausen district .

history

The Sonnenscheiner Kohlberg in Dahlhausen was muted in 1698 , but was possibly already in operation around 20 years earlier. After just two years, the factory, which was later called the oldest Sonnenscheiner Stolln and was later called the oldest Sonnenscheiner Stolln , was shut down again. It was located on today's Hasenwinkeler Strasse in what was later entitled Hasenwinkel.

In 1732, the Sonnenscheiner Erbstollen was built in order to drain higher-lying pits and possibly to develop new coal deposits. The Erbstollen first encountered coal in 1744, and in the same year financially strong trades joined the colliery, among them the mining pioneer Julius Philipp Heintzmann (the Julius Philipp colliery in Wiemelhausen was named after him).

In 1781 a shaft for coal extraction was built, and from 1785, together with the United General & Erbstollen colliery, a new joint mine was built from the bank of the Ruhr.

Since the neighboring Hasenwinkel colliery was operated by the same union , both mines worked closely together. When Zeche Sonnenschein stopped mining in 1801, the mine field fell to the Hasenwinkel colliery.
