history
The Zeereder came from Erfurt to Bern, possibly originally from the Netherlands . The first name bearer in Bern was the coppersmith Hans Zeerleder. Members of the family were active in other manual trades and, in the 17th and 18th centuries, increasingly as clergymen, pharmacists and merchants. The banker Ludwig Zeerleder, Albrecht von Haller's son-in-law , was the first of the family to join the Bernese Grand Council in 1785.
The Zeerleder house with wall paintings by Rudolf Münger from 1897 at Junkerngasse 51 has been owned by the family since 1806. At times, the Zeerleder owned amsoldingen castle , the New Castle Belp and the Castle gravels .
