Zeise cinemas
The Zeise cinemas , proper spelling: zeise cinemas are since 1993 existing cinema in the Friedensallee 7-9 in Hamburg district of Ottensen . The cinema is housed in the Zeisehallen media and culture center in the workshop of Theodor Zeise's former propeller factory . It is operated by Zeise Hallen Kinobetriebs GmbH under Managing Director Matthias Elwardt and, due to its focus on European productions, belongs to the Europa Cinemas network .
The program focuses on challenging films from Germany, Europe and around the world. Film series as well as films in English, Spanish and French original language with subtitles and sneak previews are shown regularly . Readings, short film , singer and poetry slam evenings are also organized. In the summer months the inner courtyard of the Altona town hall is used by zeise cinemas as an open-air cinema .
Technical Equipment
The cinema has three projection halls with a total of 523 seats. Cinema 1 with 367 seats, a screen of 58 m². A Dolby SR-D and THX are used as the sound system . The presentation technology includes a 16 mm analog film projector with light and magnetic sound . This hall heard loud hamburg.de of the most beautiful theaters in Germany and is for wheelchair accessibility accessible. Cinema 2 has approx. 96 seats with a 20 m² screen, cinema 3 has approx. 67 seats with a 15 m² screen, both are equipped with Dolby SR sound systems.
history
After the bankruptcy of the ship propeller factory Theodor Zeise in 1979, the area was rededicated as a media and film center, which should also house a sophisticated cinema. In the tender for the cinema, a group of small cinema operators from Berlin together with a Munich film distributor prevailed against Hans-Joachim Flebbe from CinemaxX, among others . Finally, the zeise kinos opened on March 3, 1993 with Detlev Buck's satirical film Wir kann auch anders… .
