Time in the picture (magazine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zeit im Bild (ZiB) was a German magazine that appeared in the Soviet zone of occupation and in the German Democratic Republic .

The magazine was created in January 1946 by resolution of the Saxon SPD and KPD state boards in preparation for the unification of the two parties. The first equal editors-in-chief were Oskar Kurpat from the SPD and Hans Schrecker from the KPD. The former Goehle factory in Dresden was made available by the Soviet Military Administration in Germany (SMAD) as an editorial, publishing and printing facility. The first issue of the ZiB appeared on March 1, 1946, before the forced unification of the SPD and KPD .

From 1946 to 1953 Max Zimmering worked as the cultural editor of the illustrated magazine Zeit im Bild .

Zeit im Bild was published by Sachsenverlag in Dresden from 1946 onwards . In 1952 the SED founded the publishing house Zeit im Bild , which took over the magazine. The magazine was printed by the printing house of the Sächsische Zeitung .

It initially appeared fortnightly. On the occasion of the ten-year existence, the publication was changed in 1957 to ten-day publication and the format was enlarged. From 1960 the time in the picture appeared weekly.

The focus was on extensive photo portions. In October 1969, “ Zeit im Bild ” was published in the Neue Berliner Illustrierte .
