The Historische Sprachforschung / Historical Linguistics (HS) is a German journal for historical Indo-European linguistics . Its publisher and editor-in-chief is the Indo-European and linguist Martin Kümmel (since 2015). The Historical linguistics is in German-speaking and internationally one of the oldest still published regularly spoke scientific journals and the oldest in the subject Indogermanistik.
It was founded in 1852 by the Indo-Europeanist Adalbert Kuhn as a journal for comparative linguistic research in the field of German, Greek and Latin (volumes 1–40; also cited as Kuhns Zeitschrift, KZ). Since 1873 the magazine has appeared - now with the assistance of Ernst Wilhelm Adalbert Kuhn - as a “New Series” (Volume 21 ff.). In 1877 (Vol. 23 ff.) The title was also changed to Journal for Comparative Linguistic Research in the Field of Indo-European Languages . The magazine was first published by Ferdinand Dümmler in Berlin , and later for a short time by C. Bertelsmann Verlag in Gütersloh .
In 1907 (volume 41 ff.) The articles on the knowledge of the Indo-European languages founded and edited by Adalbert Bezzenberger ( Bezzenberger's contributions for short , BB) were absorbed in the magazine; at the same time, Bezzenberger moved into the editorial board, which had been made up of several members since 1877. Since then, the magazine has been published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht in Göttingen . The current title was introduced in 1988 (with Volume 101 of the N.F.).
