Zell (Riedlingen)

Zell is a district of the city of Riedlingen in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg . The village , about four kilometers north of Riedlingen, was incorporated into the city of Riedlingen on October 1, 1974 as a district of Bechingen .

geography

The place lies on a flood-protected terrace, which is formed by a narrow loop of the Danube .

history

The place was first mentioned in 790 as "Rammesauwa".

Zell came to the Benedictine Abbey of Zwiefalten in 1352 and became part of Württemberg in 1802 as part of the secularization .

Attractions

The rectory was built in 1781 as the summer residence of the Abbots of Zwiefalten. The size and architecture of the building correspond to a small castle.

The St. Gallus Church is a classical hall building with a ceiling painting by Januarius Zick (1730–1797).
