Daugendorf

Daugendorf is a district of the town of Riedlingen in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg . The formerly independent municipality, which is about two and a half kilometers north of Riedlingen, was incorporated into the city of Riedlingen on May 1, 1972.

geography

The village lies on the plateau on the left side of the Danube lowland . Вundesstraße 312 runs on the western edge of the town and a new building area adjoins it in the south.

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in 805 as "Taugindorf" when the place was donated to the monastery of St. Gallen . It is not known how Daugendorf later came into the possession of the Counts of Veringen . In 1415 Rudolph von Veringen sold Daugendorf to the Zwiefalten monastery .

As a result of the secularization , Daugendorf came to Württemberg in 1803 and was subordinate to the newly established Oberamt Riedlingen from 1807 .

Attractions

In 1767 Abbot Nikolaus II von Zwiefalten had the parish church rebuilt in the Baroque style, whereby the tower of the previous building, which was built in 1409, remained. Particularly noteworthy are the fresco paintings by the brothers Bartolomeo and Carolo Scotti (around 1770) in illusionistic architectural painting .
