Zenka Dianowa

Zenka Dianowa ( Bulgarian Ценка Дианова ; born February 9, 1971 in Gabrovo ) is a Bulgarian pianist .

Life

Dianowa received her first piano lessons at the age of three and attended the music school in Pleven when she was five . Then she studied at the State Music Academy in Sofia . Her teachers included Eleonora Karamischewa , Marina Kapzinskaja , Dmitri Bashkirow and Dmitri Kosew .

In 1998 she went to Canada to continue her studies at the University of Victoria . Here she worked with Bruce Vogt and Erich Schwandt and made a name for herself as an interpreter of contemporary music. She gave the world premiere of works by Gilles Tremblay , John Celona , Wolf Edwards and Christopher Butterfield and is a member of the Bulgarian Society for Modern Music.

In 2005 she began studying for a PhD with Tamás Vesmás at the University of Auckland , where she has also been teaching since 2006. She has made radio recordings in Bulgaria, Canada and New Zealand and is a member of the Pleven Philharmonics , the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and the University of Auckland Orchestra .
