Zenonia ( Korean 제노 니아 ) is an action role-playing game developed and published by Gamevil for iOS , Android , PlayStation Portable , Nintendo DSi , Zeebo and Windows Mobile . It was released on the App Store on May 24, 2009 and on the Google Play Store on March 27, 2010 . On October 12, 2010, a version for PlayStation Portable was released.

Game flow

The main character, Regret, is controlled through the use of an on-screen D-pad located in the lower left corner of the screen. Regret is a 17-year-old boy whose origins are initially unknown. His main task in the game is to find the reason for the death of his adoptive father Pardon, which was caused by a demon and thus by a more powerful evil. There are many side quests that the player can do to further explore the world. The main storyline can be changed by the player depending on whether he or she decides to make a decision that will result in his character shifting more quickly towards good or bad. There are three classes the player can choose between: Paladin, Warrior or Assassin. Each has a unique fighting style. The game also features hundreds of different weapons and a full class skill tree for each of the classes. According to the manufacturer, the playing time is 40 hours.

Regret's appearance in-game changes based on his equipped weapon and armor set.

development

Zenonia was developed and published by Gamevil. It is the core of a popular mobile game from South Korea . Much of the time that was spent transferring the game to iPhone was devoted to translation .

Version 1.1 was released on June 29, 2009. The update improved touch controls and made certain on-screen buttons larger and semi-transparent, making them easier to press precisely without restricting the view of the action in the game. Also, the need to consume and repair weapons and armor has been reduced to improve the overall playability of the game by reducing the frequency with which the player will have to return to the cities. The functions of Apple iOS 3.0, released on June 17, 2009, have also been incorporated into the game so that the user can listen to MP3s instead of the in-game soundtrack .

The game was also translated into Brazilian Portuguese and released for the Brazilian video game console Zeebo in January 2010 .

Zenonia was released on March 27, 2010 for the Android operating system. It supports both HVGA and WVGA screen resolutions and runs on Android version 1.5 or higher . It was later released on September 27, 2010 in North America for DSiWare by Nintendo and on December 24, 2010 in the PAL region. On October 12, 2010 it was also released for the PlayStation Portable .

reception

Zenonia received largely positive reviews and was graphically compared to previous games in The Legend of Zelda and the Final Fantasy series. The game's script was recognized as being well-written and humorous. The PC Magazine called the game one of the "must-have" games for the iPhone . Pocket Gamer's Tracy Erickson gave him a Silver Award and called him "RPG classic at its zenith".

Sequels

The sequel Zenonia 2: The Lost Memories was released by Gamevil on March 29, 2010 in the App Store and on December 24, 2010 in the Google Play Store. It contains four new characters with their own special abilities and combat tactics, a new user interface for character customization with over 1200 new items and new landscapes (ice, ledges, lava). The game also features player versus player ( PvP ) combat in a small arena. Each of the game's four cities has a different arena layout.

Another sequel, Zenonia 3 , was released on the App Store on April 28, 2011 and on the Google Play Store on August 1, 2011. Zenonia 4 was released in Korea on September 26th, 2011. It was released on the App Store on December 22, 2011 and on the Google Play Store on February 10, 2012. Zenonia 5 was released on the Google Play Store on November 29, 2012.
