Mirror dory is a fish art from the family of John Dory (Zeidae). It occurs in the Indo-Pacific between 45 ° north and 47 ° south latitude , from Japan to northern Australia and New Zealand , in the eastern Pacific from the coast of California to Peru . He prefers to stay at depths of 30 to 800 meters above the sea floor. Young fish may be pelagic . Zenopsis nebulosa is an excellent food fish and is caught by Japanese fishing vessels during the winter months.

Zenopsis nebulosa becomes 70 centimeters long and weighs up to 3 kg. The maximum documented age is 45 years. Its silvery body is high back and flattened on the sides, the mouth can be strongly extended. There may be some dark spots on the top of the head. The hard rays of the first dorsal fin are elongated, especially in juvenile fish. The chest and the base of the dorsal and anal fin are protected by plate-like, spiny scales.
