The Central Election Commission of Ukraine ( Ukrainian Центральна виборча комісія України / ЦВК ) is a permanent collegial public body under the Constitution of Ukraine , based in Kiev , whose job it is presidential elections , parliamentary elections , local elections and referenda in Ukraine prepare and perform.

The Central Election Commission heads the regional election commissions, which are independent legal entities. These control the local election commissions, which are not legal entities but parts of the local government.

Choice and composition

The members of the commission are elected for a term of 7 years by the Verkhovna Rada , the Ukrainian parliament, after the candidates have been discussed by the parliamentary groups and groups. After the election they are appointed by the president and sworn in in parliament.

The Central Election Commission consists of 15 members and consists of a chairman, two vice-presidents, a secretary and eleven other members. The right to stand for election of members of the commission is restricted for the duration of their membership. The chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of Ukraine has been Tetjana Slipachuk since October 5, 2018 .
