The central bus station Minden (short: ZOB Minden) is the bus station of the East Westphalian city of Minden in the Minden-Lübbecke district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was reopened in January 2012 after extensive renovations.

history

Minden is the district town of the old Minden district and the successor district of Minden-Lübbecke . For this reason alone, it has to fulfill a special function in local public transport and to guarantee transport to the surrounding area. For this reason, the central square next to the Minden Cathedral , the Old Town Hall and the Minden Old Government was expanded as a central bus stop as early as the 1960s . It was also known under the name of the Domeck bus stop . The city center was within walking distance. As access to the place on the road from Vincke Wesertor was led out, she pointed the expansion of the trolleybus Minden too small clear width and had to be widened. A supporting pillar also had to be removed from Minden Cathedral. The trolleybuses ran from 1953 to 1965.

This central square disappeared with the expansion of the town hall in 1978. As part of the urban redevelopment , the city center was reorganized and the square had to give way to the Deilmann building. The new location in the southern city center was expanded in 2010 and opened in 2012. In its planning study, the city described this expansion as follows: "Renewal of the central bus station (ZOB) into a modern" traffic area "".

Bicycle parking spaces and pedestrians

There is a small bicycle parking facility at the ZOB. The stops are only protected from the weather in the central area of roofs. There is a central break room that is open on weekdays. The bus station is connected to the city center with a pedestrian zone .

location

The Minden bus station is centrally located in the southern city center, with access from Lindenstrasse / Klausenwall, which leads to the south. It has an exit and an entrance. Next door is the Obermarktpassage shopping center , which also offers numerous parking spaces in the underground car park . It was further expanded underground under the ZOB. The town hall, which is no longer in operation, was located in the Obermarktpassage building until 2010.

Operation and service

The central bus station is an important connection point for local public transport and is served by all regional and city bus routes.

The Minden Service Center, which is operated by OWL Verkehrs GmbH, is located at the central bus station and is open on weekdays.

According to the city of Minden's sustainable master plan for mobility, only around 5% of Minden residents use public transport.
