The bus Ostwestfalen GmbH is a bus company based in the East Westphalian city of Bielefeld .
Emerging from the old bus companies of the Deutsche Bundesbahn ( Bahnbus ) and the Deutsche Bundespost ( Postbus ), the company is now a subsidiary of DB Regio .
history
Around 1920 there were many small railways and bus companies in East Westphalia. Nevertheless, the Oberpostdirektion Minden managed to establish a small number of Kraftpostlinien . From 1921 a line ran from Kalletal to Vlotho and from 1923 a line from Lübbecke to Lemförde .
In the 50s, which was tram network from Detmold by the German Federal Railways adopted. The Deutsche Bundespost was able to extend its lead over the railway in East Westphalia-Lippe by acquiring private bus companies .
In the 1970s, calls became louder to unite the federal rail and post bus services under one roof. The Deutsche Bundesbahn won the decision in their favor. In 1982 and 1983 the Bahnbus (GBB) and GBB Ostwestfalen divisions of the Deutsche Bundesbahn were founded. The GBB Ostwestfalen was the only business area in which the postal buses were in the majority. Busverkehr Ostwestfalen GmbH was founded in 1989 as part of the privatization of Deutsche Bahn . The new company started operations on October 1, 1989.
In 1993, BVO and Stadtwerke Detmold founded the joint venture Stadtverkehr Detmold GmbH. In 1999 the bus company Wilhelm Temme & Sohn in Halle / Westf. with its line concessions as Nahverkehr Ostwestfalen GmbH in Halle (Westphalia) as a subsidiary. On January 1, 2002, due to a necessary restructuring, the bus traffic in the Paderborn and Höxter districts was outsourced . The new subsidiary BahnBus Hochstift GmbH (BBH), based in Paderborn, took over the Paderborn business area, the Höxter branch in Detmold and the Brakel branch .
On September 1, 2008, the BVO took over the bus services of the British Forces Germany , which had previously been advertised across Europe. Mercedes-Benz Integro and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter buses were procured for operation.
Since November 1, 2008, BVO has been operating together with its subsidiaries BBH and NVO under the brand name DB Bahn Ostwestfalen-Lippe-Bus .
In January 2009, some lines (including 62, 88) in the northern Gütersloh district were lost to the new competitor go.on Gesellschaft für Bus- und Eisenbahnverkehr .
At the beginning of October 2009 it was announced that the Minden-Lübbecke district would be awarding the "A Lübbecke und Umgebung" line bundle in-house to Mindener Kreisbahnen (MKB) on December 1, 2009 . The Mindener Kreisbahnen or the competition subsidiary Mühlenkreis-Bus are 100% owned by the Minden-Lübbecke district. The loss of the lines resulted in the closure of the Lübbecke branch for BVO.
As part of a partnership agreement dated December 2, 2009, Bielefeld-based moBiel GmbH took on the planning and organization of bus transport within Bielefeld and to neighboring cities and communities. Buses and drivers - as long as the journeys are not carried out as an order service by private companies or moBiel - as well as the workshop staff continue to be provided by BVO. By the end of 2018, the implementation of the deals should gradually completely at moBiel pass
2010 BVO produced many lines in the district of Lippe lost: From 15 July, the operation in was Kalletal , Lemgo and Bad Salzuflen to the Company go.on given. In a Europe-wide tender for the "Line Bundle III" Blomberg - Schieder-Schwalenberg - Lügde, the longstanding BVO contractor Ludwig Vogt from Detmold was able to prevail against the BVO. The seven affected lines were released on September 1, 2010.
On January 1, 2011, the BVO received an increase in the number of lines by winning the tender for the "Gütersloh North-West Line Bundle". Three main regional lines and several school traffic lines in the Harsewinkel , Versmold , Borgholzhausen and Gütersloh area are affected . For the first time, this also includes an express bus line .
On January 10, 2011, the company Karl Köhne, Extertal , in which the district of Lippe has a stake, took over the operation of the "line bundle II" Detmold / Horn-Bad Meinberg from BVO.
On January 26, 2011, the MHV, as the authority responsible for the Herford and Minden-Lübbecke districts, informed the BVO that it had won the Europe-wide tender for services from the Minden-Ravensberg transport company (VMR), which has been insolvent since January 2011 . The takeover of operations in the districts and urban transport in Herford and Minden took place on June 12, 2011. This could u. a. the networks of Löhne (concession is held by the railway subsidiary BBH ) and Herford will also be reunited.
On January 1, 2012, a bidding consortium made up of the bus companies Karl Köhne , Linke and Wellhausen took over city bus transport in Detmold under the newly founded company Stadtbus Detmold GmbH . As the last license in Detmold was no longer applicable, the BVO gave up the depot in Detmold at the end of the year. This was bought by Karl Köhne , who stationed the vehicles for the city bus service and the other line bundles won here.
At the beginning of January 2013, BVO took over lines in the Bad Salzuflen / Lage area. This also ended the cooperation with moBiel for lines 350 and 351.
From January 2014 BVO took over the transport services of the Gütersloh Nord line bundle, which was lost at the time. The decisive factor was the newly offered 15-minute intervals on the Werther – Bielefeld axis in cooperation with line 21. A continuous line from Halle via Werther and Großdornberg to Bielefeld main station was introduced, which also serves the university campus via a short walk .
